COVID-19 and Season Updates From GBC
Hello GBC Family! I'm sure by now you've seen the update from FAN regarding the remainder of the season's tournaments being cancelled. I want to give you some additional information and details. A few important points: 1. The final FAN South Qualifier on Choke is canceled and will not be rescheduled. 2. The FAN Championship on Conroe has been postponed to a date and lake to be determined. 3. The remaining THSBA Qualifier. Regional and Championship are all postponed to a date and lake to be determined. 4. The GBC Open on Amistad has been postponed to a later date to be determined. 5. Our GBC Club Meeting on March 23rd has been canceled. 6. The GBC Moms and Anglers Tournament has been postponed to a date to be determined. Regarding the FAN Championship, because our season was shortened, the qualifications have been tweaked a bit as follows:
If you have placed in the Top 20% of any South or Central Qualifying tournament, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP, regardless of how many tournaments you have fished
If you are in the Top 60% of ANGLERS WHO HAVE FISHED 2 OR MORE TOURNAMENTS IN A SINGLE DIVISION (either South or Central Division), YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP. AOY Standings are currently posted on FAN's website under "Tournaments" and "2019-2020 YTD Standings". The methodology that is used is this:
We take out every angler who has only fished 1 tournament, THEN take the Top 60% of remaining anglers and round up that number.
South Division - this means the Top 53 anglers
Central Division - this means the Top 115 anglers
I know you all have a lot of questions about when and where the FAN Championship will be held and I wish I had answers for you. There is a lot to consider, especially when many anglers are in their senior year. Just know that the Board did not make these decisions lightly and we truly are hurting just as much as you are over having to cancel/postpone these events.
